Seven Universities from USA to Collaborate with President University
Cikarang, Bekasi – as many as seven top universities from the United States of America (USA) visited President University on April 17th to discuss the possibility to collaborate in certain areas of tertiary education. The visit was organized by the U.S. – Indonesia Joint Council on Higher Education chaired by Bernard A. Burrola, as the continuation towards the U.S. Ambassador’s visit on April 12th. The seven universities were Ferris State University, University of Hawaii, Webster University, Rutgers University, Wayne State University, University of Kentucky, and Portland State University
The seven universities were introduced to President University, Indonesia, since the University was already well known for catering international students, using full English as its primary language of instructions, upholding a global approach in teaching its students, and on top of that, sharing similar philosophy with the U.S. universities in terms of creating graduates who were skillful and well equipped global perspectives.
Some faculty members from President University who accompanied the delegations from the seven universities during the meeting were Vincentius Winarto, the University’s Vice Rector 1 of Academic Affairs; Sendy Widjaja, the University’s Vice Rector 3 of Student Affairs; Muh. AS Hikam, the University’s Vice Rector 4 of Research; A.A. Banyu Perwita, Head of International Relations Study Program; T. Manivasugen, Director of Marketing and Communication Department; Jhanghiz Syahrivar, Head of Public Relations Division; Maria Jacinta Arquisola, Head of Internship and Career Center Bureau; and others.
Some of the topics raised during the meeting included the possibility for President University’s students to have internships in the U.S., the possibility to implement online or distance learning in President University, sandwich programs, join seminars in the scope of USA – Indonesia bilateral relations, scholarships for Masters’ Degrees, and lastly, the improvement of President University’s curriculum to cater certain needs, such as leadership, entrepreneurship, multicultural, and international outlook.
