Visual Communication Design
1. Drawing
This unit develops students to frame subjects such as plants and human form in the contextof line, texture, light, dark, space, balance, proportion, color and form. Student will explore,observe and experiment with different media. This course will take students through theillustration process, from concept sketches to finished artwork.
2. Technique of Creativity
This unit aims to increase the creativity, problem solving and critical thinking skills of theparticipants. Techniques of how to be original and creative will be taught.
3. Color Theory
This unit offers an in-depth study of the elements, principles and concepts of color anddesign. Students will learn to harmonize colors through the use analogous split complimentarycolors. Color projects will also include principles of design.
4. 2Dimensional Design
Students will be able to learn the element of design in two-dimentional design, both asconceptual and also as visual.
5. Art & Graphic Design History
This course examines art from Prehistoric times to the end of the renaissance period of thenineteenth century. It introduces the language of the art in the various media andexamines the purposes of art while establishing an understanding of the creative processand the principles of design.This unit also provides a comprehensive knowledge of important designers and typographerswho formed the origins of visual communication design.
6. 3Dimensional Design
This course will consist of projects and demonstration aimed toward developing students'knowledge of three-dimensional design. Students in consultation with the teacher will motivatethe projects. 7. AestheticsStudents will be able to evaluate art and design critically, to recognize aesthetic value, decorumand artistic integrity on an advanced level.
8. Typography
This course studies hand lettering of classic, historically relevant typographic forms that arethe foundation of contemporary typographic aesthetics. It trains the eyes and hands andencourages a high-level perception of differences inherent in alphabets of various styles. Thecraft of typography is introduced, including type specification, copy fitting and kerning.Emphasis is also placed on the development of a full understanding of the terminology usedby typographers. Students will learn to work with type intelligently and creatively.
9. Design Management
This level course explores the strategic issues of marketing, focusing on research, goal-setting techniques, and consumer insight and product development. Students translateproduct features into consumer benefits and examine product development from theconsumer's point of view.
10. Visual Communication Design
This is an introduction to media studies with emphasis on visual forms and mediatedcommunication. It will develop students' perceptual/cognitive and intellectual abilities. Thecourse will develop student's appreciation of the various media such as print, electronic andimage. This unit is especially useful for students who are interested to purse a career in webdevelopment, graphic design and advertising.
11. Computer Graphics
Students will be introduced to the basic functions of vector drawing software. They willfamiliarize themselves with drawing tools, line drawing and the use of layers and how tomanage the layers. Students will learn about the trends, designers and illustrator in vectorvisual communication design that is used to prepare document for printing and organizingfiles within the hierarchy. Software: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop
12. Photography
This course teaches students to the world of professional photography. Students will beintroduced to professional camera, light metering devices, film development process andprinting in black and white photography. Students must have personal camera with manualfunctions and with inter-changeable lenses.
13. Interactive Multimedia
The course provides the fundamental concepts for interactive media design. Principles ofdesign, research and other interactive multimedia process will be discussed. Students willalso study interface design and motion graphics that is used in interactive commercials andcorporate communications. Student will explore the fundamental of designing and producingmultimedia commercials.Software: Macromedia Director MX
14 Website Design
Introduce web programming facts and concepts. To initiate the students to control vectorgraphic, sound editing and images, then transfer it into interactive animated web site.Software: Macromedia Dream weaver, Macromedia Fireworks, HTML
15. Motion Graphics
This course is about Video Effects and Editing. To combine digital video editing, compositingand special effects program with visual effects and motion graphic.Software: Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, Sound Forge (PC)
16. 3D Animation
This course explores the basic principles of animation. Students will navigate and build 3Dimagery in 3D space, apply textures, lighting, and camera motion and render both still imageand animations.Software: 3D Studio Max
17. Advertising
This course introduces advertising students to the wide, wonderful world of advertising.History of advertising, strategy, copywriting, art direction and integrated communicationsare introduced and practiced at an appropriate level. The final project is a complete campaignincluding print, radio, television and sales promotion.
18. Pre Press & Printing
This course acquires essential information and experience to employ electronic digital imagingprocesses used in today's printing profession. Using Adobe Photoshop and MacromediaFreehand as the primary application, exercises include adjusting images for specific printingconditions, halftone considerations, process color separations, scanning, postscript and PDFoutput and image setting. Software: Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Freehand, Adobe Illustrator
