Tuesday (13/10), Inspektur Jenderal Polisi (Purn.) Drs. Sidarto Danusubroto S.H. giving general lecture to all President University (PresUniv) civitas academica. Sidarto, who is a member of the Presidential Advisory Council, Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly 2013-2014, and was an aide for Bung Karno, in the online lecture presented the topic "Maintaining the sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia based on Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution and Bhineka Tunggal Ika". This national lecture was also attended by SD Darmono, founder of President University and the Jababeka Group, as well as all administrators of the President University Education Foundation (YPUP).This lecture was guided by Dr. Endi Haryono, S.IP., M.Sc., Dean of the Faculty of Humanities PresUniv.
PresUniv Rector, Prof. Dr. Jony Oktavian Haryanto, in his speech said, "I hope this nationality lecture will open our horizons about the relevance of issues related to sovereignty, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, and diversity." Sidarto started his session by explaining that Bung Karno's one thought, namely "one for all, all for one, all for all", is still very relevant to the condition of Indonesia as a plural, multicultural, multiethnic, and multireligious nation. According to him, if all feel for all, then there will be no tribe, ethnicity, or religion that feels more entitled than others. "All children of the nation have the same rights and obligations," he said. Sidarto also said that there were efforts by several parties to destroy harmony by replacing the Pancasila ideology with another ideology. “There are those who think that diversity must be removed from Indonesia. This is because they forget the history that this Republic was built on ethnic, ethnic and religious diversity,” he added. This, according to him, has resulted in the emergence of acts of intolerance, radicalism and terrorism (IRT) in Indonesia.
Sidarto emphasized the importance of a good and correct understanding of the Four Pillars of Nationality, namely Pancasila as the basis of the state and the nation's view of life, the 1945 Constitution as the state constitution, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) as a form of state, and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika which unites Indonesia. Adding Sidarto's explanation, Darmono revealed that the concept is in line with the ideals of PresUniv's founding, which is to shape character. He said, “Knowledge and skills do not guarantee a person's leadership, but character does. So, character education is more important than theory and skills.” Closing the national lecture, Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Susilo Soepandji, D.E.A, Chairman of YPUP, emphasized the importance of maintaining a sense of nationality, especially for the younger generation. (Silvia Desi Betrice, PR team. Photo: Silvia)
